Frequently Asked Questions

The following is a list of frequently asked questions (FAQ) regarding the Burden Artist's Guilds' Artist Residency Program. If you have a question about the program that wasn't covered on this site, please email us and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.

Q. A.
Q. Do artists pay for their own transportation to and from the Burden Artist's Guild?
A. In most cases, yes.

Q. What is the nearest airport?
A. The Sacramento International Airport is less than 45 minutes away. The San Francisco Airport is just over two hours away, depending on traffic conditions.

Q. How close are you to town?
A. The Burden Artist's Guild is located in the center of town.

Q. With the Guild downtown, is there a noise problem?
A. Noise can be sporadic as Placerville is a historical town that occasionaly has shotgun wedding re-enactments and gunfights in the main street. We find this more of a pleasent distraction from a busy days work than a problem and the view is great from the second story window!

Q. What is the space like?
A. The Guild is 36 square feet of studio space. It has a desk with two drawers and a chair. One large window faces Main street. There is plenty of shelf space. Two six foot long by 14 inch high shelves line the wall adjacent to the window. You are encouraged to send any art supplies, books, pictures or objects that would stimulate your wax artist's creative process. These items can be placed in the Guild to make it more familiar and comfortable to the artist in residence.

Q. What kinds of services are in town?
A. Placerville has the best restaurants in the area; coffee shops, taverns, grocery stores, banks, and small boutiques. Sacramento is about an hour away and is quite a bit larger and has a city like atmosphere.

Q. Do I have a hookup for my modem?
A. No.

Q. Does the Burden Artist's Guild have phones?
A. Yes. Artists are responsible for their own long-distance telephone calls.
